Wetherby Racecourse is arguably the North’s finest jump racing course, and the quality of Wetherby’s racing is renowned throughout horse racing. Many of the greatest steeple chasers and hurdlers of all time have graced the turf at Wetherby Racecourse, including the likes of Viking Flagship, One Man, See More Business, Marlborough, and Rhinestone Cowboy.
Wetherby Racecourse opened the £4 million, state-of-the-art Wetherby Millennium Stand in February 2000, catering for Daily and Annual Members. A further £1/4 million was spent refurbishing Wetherby’s facilities.
Wetherby Racecourse is situated on the B1224, off the A1 and nine miles from Harrogate train station. Wetherby Racecourse’s National Hunt course is a left-handed one-mile four-furlong circuit with easy bends, which are much sharper on the old hurdles course.
