Sweden vs Finland | Prediction, Betting Tips & Odds

Scandinavian rivals Sweden and Finland meet in a friendly international this week, with an exciting encounter expected, despite the match not being regulated by FIFA. The home side will be looking for many of their domestic-based players to step up to the plate in the absence of their absent European-based stars, while Finland are looking for a fresh start after a number of years of disappointment.

 Sweden vs Finland Match Preview

Sweden take on Finland in a friendly clash on Tuesday evening, with the home side looking to keep up their impressive run of form, which saw them make it through to the quarter finals of the World Cup back in the summer of 2018. Their hugely experienced manager Janne Andersson has selected a host of potential debutants in his squad for their clash against Finland, however the hosts are still the firm favourites for victory. The visitors certainly have experience on their side, despite Finland also being without some of their big names.  For those still unsure of who to back, be sure to check out our top betting tip below. However, let’s first take a closer look at the two teams, starting with the home side.

Sweden

Only 10 of the 22 players called up by Sweden have previously played for the senior side, including midfielder Alexander Fransson and defender Alexander Milošević, who is currently without a club following his exit from AIK. Meanwhile, despite having failed to make an impression with English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion since his move last year, 20-year-old striker Viktor Gyökeres could well earn his first cap for Sweden, having scored 20 times for former club IF Brommapojkarna. The hosts come into the match off the back of two straight victories against Turkey and Russia, which were both in November.

Finland

Having lost to both Hungary and Greece in November, Finland will be hoping to give a better account of themselves this week, with Head Coach Markku Kanerva having named a mixture of youth and experience in his squad. Captain Tim Sparv will make his 66th appearance for the visitors, however only four of their playing squad have ever scored an international goal, which will certainly be of concern for a side who have not found the back of the net in their last two matches.

Sweden vs Finland Head to Head

Sweden recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Finland the last time the two nations met back in 2016, while they also defeated their rivals during European Championship qualification in 2011. However, it is worth keeping in mind that it was Finland who ran out narrow winners when the duo met at a neutral ground in 2015.

Sweden vs Finland – Odds and Predictions

Despite the hosts being without many of their best players as a result of their club commitments, it comes as little surprise that it is Sweden who are the favourites for victory this week. Janne Andersson’s side can be backed for the win at best odds of 8/13 with William Hill, while Finland are priced at 4/1 on the same platform.

Sweden vs Finland Top Betting Tips:
