Summer Transfer Season has only just begun

This summer was always going to be huge in terms of transfers.  With the biggest clubs around Europe aiming to win both their domestic league and taste success in the Champions League, teams are competing for the top players.

The biggest moves to date have all involved Premier League teams.  Romelu Lukaku has joined Manchester United from Everton for £72 million and Alexandre Lacazette has left Lyon for Arsenal at a price of £45 million.

Other big money moves include Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva arriving at Manchester City for £43 million and £42 million respectively plus Mohamed Salah’s transfer from Roma to Liverpool at a cost of £35 million.

Elsewhere, in one the biggest transfers so far, Leonardo Bonucci has left Juventus for AC Milan and James Rodriguez has moved to Bayern Munich on loan from Real Madrid. However, there is plenty of time left in the summer transfer window and some big transfers are yet to be concluded.

Neymar has been strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona.  The Brazilian forward is rumoured to be involved in a transfer worth over £200 million but Barcelona have moved to deny the claims.  Neymar would be a huge loss to Barcelona and is 6/5 with PaddyPower to be playing his football in Paris next season.

A more likely singing for PSG could be Alexis Sanchez.  The Chile forward is reportedly wanting to play Champions League but Arsene Wenger has quickly denied claims the Arsenal man could be on the move to the French capital.

Sanchez is 4/6 to remain at Arsenal next season and 3/1 to join PSG.  Other clubs heavily linked include Manchester City and Bayern Munich at 3/1 and 25/1 respectively.

If Sanchez does leave the Emirates, Arsenal will require a replacement and Riyad Mahrez is 4/6 with William Hill to sign for the Gunners.  The Algerian winger is almost certainly on the move from Leicester City this summer and Roma have also been linked, having lost Salah and they are available at 2/1 to sign the player.

One man whose name has not been mentioned much so far in the gossip columns is Phillippe Coutinho.  Liverpool were bracing themselves for a battle to keep their Brazilian star and Klopp had this at the top of his ‘to do’ list this summer.

It appears Liverpool are yet to be tested with a solid bid but if Neymar does make a shock exit from Barcelona, they could come calling for Coutinho.  The Brazilian is 5/1 with Unibet to join Barcelona.

Finally and perhaps not a big name in terms of European football but one Manchester United fans will be keeping an eye on is Kieran Tierney.  Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem to have much faith in Luke Shaw and a solid, reliable left-back will be important next season with so many games to play.  Tierney is Evens with BetVictor to leave Celtic for Old Trafford this summer.

With so many teams looking to strengthen before the start of the 2017/18 season and a huge amount of money exchanging hands, we could be in for a record breaking transfer window.
