FA Cup Underdog Acca – Double Chance options

The FA Cup is full of the dreams of lower-tiered clubs hoping to pull off a giant-killing act in the tournament. The fourth round of this season’s tournament is here on the weekend and there are plenty of underdogs around who will be looking to have their day. Here we have a look at an FA Cup accumulator in which some of the underdogs in the draw could at least avoid defeat, and with that, we go looking at the Double Chance option.

League Two side Coventry head off to face League One opposition in the form of the MK Dons on Saturday and the Sky Blues are 5/2 underdogs to take a win. However, Coventry are in great form with four wins in their last five and they are taking on an MK Dons side who are struggling in the League One relegation zone so the gap between the two of them isn’t that great. So look for Coventry to at least get this back to a replay and the Sky Blues are well worth covering in a Double Chance.

It is always a little risky looking at sides more than a league apart in the tiers and expecting the lower one of them to come out on top. However, League One leaders Wigan are going to be a force in this one against their Premier League opposition. The Latics are unbeaten in fourteen games and have already destroyed Bournemouth’s hopes of a Cup run this season, taking down the Cherries 3-0 at the DW Stadium in a third-round replay. West Ham doesn’t pack a great punch going forward and Wigan has such an impressive defence that they can claim their second top-flight scalp in this season’s competition.

Championship side Boro will fancy their chances at the Riverside in this FA Cup tie and they are actually favourites to get the win on the board against Premier League opposition. But Brighton has some decent appeal in a Double Chance here and that is because Boro have lost two of their last three games on home soil. Brighton have very little form to speak of themselves, especially on the road, but they were really up for their FA Cup challenge against Crystal Palace in the last round and they have gone unbeaten in their last four visits to Middlesbrough as well (W2 D2). The Seagulls could grind out at least a draw.

An all-Premier League against two sides who are badly out of form. Southampton has won just one of their last twelve games and they are favourites on home soil to get through this match up in the fourth round. However, Watford have taken four points off them in this season’s Premier League meetings already, including a 2-0 win on the south coast. The Hornets are in dreadful form, but they have a pragmatic new boss in Javier Garcia in place and could pull off a repeat at St Mary’s.
