Betting Tip: FC Copenhagen vs Hobro

FC Copenhagen are the most successful club in Danish football, having won the Danish Football Championship 12 times and the Danish Cup 8 times. They are also Denmark’s most successful club in European football competitions, having reached the group stages of both the Champions League and Europa League more times than any other Danish team.

FC Copenhagen have won the league for the last two seasons in a row and in each of the last 3 seasons when they not won the league they have finished second.

Their opponents in this game are Hobro, who won promotion to the Danish Superliga last season by winning the Danish First Division.  They will be hoping to give a good account of themselves this season and avoid relegation.

FC Copenhagen Form

Stale Solbakken would have been hoping for a better result in midweek as FC Copenhagen look to seal a place in the Champions League group stages.  They lost the first leg of their third qualifying round tie with Vardar 1-0 and have left themselves with plenty to do in the second leg.

However, they cannot afford to take their mind off this league fixture against Hobro, having already dropped points at home in a 1-1 draw with Aab on the opening weekend of the season.

However, home form in the Danish SuperLiga is excellent and FC Copenhagen have not lost any of their previous 50 league games at the Telia Parken, which is an incredible record.

Hobro Form

Hobro started the season well, defeating fellow promoted team FC Helsingor 2-1 at home.  However, they could not repeat the positive result in their first away match of the SuperLiga season and lost 2-0 at AGF last weekend.

When they were last in the SuperLiga, which was two years ago, Hobro struggled when playing away from home.  They lost 7 of their last 9 away league games and failed to score a single goal in 6 of them.

FC Copenhagen only conceded 20 goals during the whole of last season and it is difficult to envisage Hobro creating many goal scoring chances in this game.

Team News

Stale Solbakken may be tempted to rotate some of his players with the second leg of the Champions League qualifier coming up on Wednesday.  Right back Peter Ankersen is out with injury but every other player is available for selection.

Hobro have the luxury of a fully sit squad to choose from ahead of this game.  Thomas Thomasberg will aim to pack the midfield and frustrate the hosts.

FC Copenhagen, despite having the Champions League on their mind, come into this match as huge favourites to take maximum points and can be backed at 4/11 with Ladbrokes to win the game.

Considering FC Copenhagen’s home form, including their defensive record and Hobro’s difficulty in scoring goals on the road, the hosts will be expecting to keep a clean sheet in this game.  FC Copenhagen are 11/10 with Ladbrokes to win this match without conceding a goal.

2-0 has been FC Copenhagen’s most popular home result in recent times and it has happened in 5 of their last 12 home wins.  You can back FC Copenhagen to win this game 2-0 at 6/1 with William Hill.
