Toby Alderweireld set for Old Trafford move?

Toby Alderweireld signed for Tottenham Hotspur from Atletico Madrid back in 2015, with the Belgian international going on to become a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino’s sides success over recent years. However, the defender is out of contract in 2019 and believed to be looking for a significant pay increase in order to stay at Spurs, something in which the club are currently not willing to offer. As a result, the former Southampton loanee is now being chased by a number of teams across Europe, including both Manchester United and Chelsea.

Alderweireld will play for Belgium at the World Cup in Russia this summer, however the 29-year-old could well have a new home when he returns to domestic action. Bookmaker SkyBet are now offering odds of 2/1 for the defender to remain at Spurs beyond the 2018 summer transfer window, which closes on the 9th August this year. Meanwhile, the same platform is offering Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United a price of 15/8 to sign Alderweireld, with the Portuguese boss thought to be keen on strengthening his back-line at Old Trafford, with doubts raising over the future of both Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.

Should Alderweireld chose to move away from England this summer, French giants PSG are almost certain to be interested in acquiring his services, with the defender possibly keen to join the likes of Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe at the Parc des Princes. PSG are offered odds of 5/1 by NetBet to sign the centre-back.

The future of many Spurs players is currently up in the air, with full-back Danny Rose being another who has been linked with a move away from the North London-based club. The former Leeds United youngster is priced at 5/4 to potentially join Alderweireld at Old Trafford, with Spurs set to battle to sign youngster Ryan Sessegnon as his replacement. The Championship player of the season is priced at 5/2 to move to Spurs, with the 17-year-old potentially becoming one of the most expensive teenagers around.
