Tennis Betting Tips: Women US Open

The world’s top players descend on Flushing Meadows and in the absence of Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka – the draw looks to be extremely open. The WTA Tour has thrown up some unpredictable results so far and with 3 different Grand Slam winners this year (Serena Williams at the Australian Open, Ostapenko at Roland Garros and Muguruza at Wimbledon) picking the winner here in New York looks a difficult task.

Here’s a look at some of our tips for the title:

Garbine Muguruza – 7/1 (Winner) – Wimbledon champion Muguruza has continued her fine form since SW19 and picked up the title in Cincinnati last week. Her big serve and solid hitting from the back of the court have been too much for most of her opponents on the tour of late. She’s seeded 3 here in New York and looks a strong pick.

Karolina Pliskova – 7/1 (William Hill) – World number 1 Pliskova has had a solid season in 2017 without claiming any Grand Slam titles. Her early defeat at Wimbledon has been followed up with a last 8 showing in Toronto and she reached the last 4 in Cincinnati last week. On her favourite surface here at Flushing Meadows she is sure to be a force to be reckoned with.

Simon Halep – 12/1 (Paddy Power) – Hot on the heels of Pliskova as the world number 2, Halep is looking for her maiden Grand Slam crown here. The Romanian reached the final in Cincinnati but came across a resurgent Muguruza and will fancy her chances over the next fortnight. Seeded number 2 she looks to have a favourable draw.

Elina Svitolina – 14/1 (Winner) – The Ukrainian number 4 seed has had a meteoric rise up the rankings in 2017 and is sure to be desperate to land a Grand Slam title here. She has a tough draw here in New York though and will have to be at the top of her game.

The US Open incredibly open and here are some of the outside picks:

  • Johanna Konta – 12/1 (Paddy Power) – The British number 1 loves the hard courts and seeded at 7, could cause some damage in the draw here.
  • Venus Williams – 22/1 (Sky Bet) – Venus reached the final at Wimbledon and in the Australian Open this year without managing to get over the line – will be desperate for one last slam at the age of 37.
  • Caroline Wozniacki – 25/1 (Winner) – The Dane has reached 6 finals on the WTA tour this year without picking up a trophy. Could she amend that here in New York?
  • Sloane Stephens – 40/1 (Paddy Power) – Since her return from injury earlier this summer Stephens has been in fine form. Reaching the last 4 in Cincinnati and Toronto and she will be sure to have home support.
