The 2022-23 English Premier League season goes on Sunday, March 5, with a couple of games on the schedule, including the Northwest Derby from Anfield, so here’s the best Liverpool vs. Manchester United betting pick.

Liverpool – Manchester United Betting Tip, Prediction & Odds (5.3.2023)

Liverpool are having a disappointing season, but the Reds still have a chance to qualify for the Champions League. They desperately need a victory over the Red Devils, who are still alive in the title race. Hereof, we’re expecting a great battle between a couple of old foes.

Liverpool vs. Manchester United: Initial Situation

Liverpool are sixth in the EPL with 39 points (W11, D6, L7) and a 40:28 goal difference, trailing fourth-placed Tottenham by six points. On the other side, Manchester United are third with 49 points (W15, D4, L5) and a 41:28 goal difference. The Red Devils are 11 points behind Arsenal, but they have a game in hand on the Gunners, who are topping the Premier League five points above Manchester City.

Liverpool Stats & Form

The Reds are coming off Wednesday’s 2-0 home victory against Wolves. Virgil van Dijk broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute, and Mohamed Salah made it 2-0 four minutes later. It was Liverpool’s third win in four league games along with a disappointing nil-nil draw against Crystal Palace on the road. The Reds haven’t conceded in that four-game stretch, but they allowed five goals to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 on February 21.

Mohamed Salah leads the way for the Reds, and the 30-year-old forward has accounted for 19 goals and nine assists in all competitions so far this season. Darwin Nunez has scored 12 goals, while Andrew Robertson has notched eight assists.

Manchester United Stats & Form

The Red Devils just won the EFL Cup, beating Newcastle 2-0 in the final this past Sunday. Three days later, they outlasted West Ham 3-1 at home in the FA Cup. The Red Devils have also won three of their previous league matches along with a draw, tallying a 9:3 goal difference in the process.

Marcus Rashford scored once against Newcastle last weekend, and the 25-year-old versatile forward now has 25 goals and nine assists on his season tally. Bruno Fernandes has recorded seven goals and ten assists thus far, and Casemiro has added five goals and five dishes. The Red Devils are without Christian Eriksen (ankle), Anthony Martial (hip), and Donny van de Beek (knee).

Liverpool – Manchester United: Head-to-Head

Liverpool have won three of their last four league contests against Manchester United, but the Red Devils beat Liverpool 2-1 at home in their first meeting of the 2022-23 season. Manchester United haven’t emerged victorious at Anfield since 2016.

Liverpool – Manchester United Odds

The bookies are expecting a tight battle, and the odds pretty much tell the story. Both Teams to Score YES pays just 1.55 at bet365 Sportsbook, while the Over 2.5 Goals sits at 1.65 on Unibet Sportsbook.

Betting tip and prediction: Liverpool – Manchester United (5.3.2023)

There’s no easy money in games like this one. I’m looking for both teams to find the back of the net, but the odds are not attractive at all. Going with a draw at 3.50 with bet365 makes sense, but I would like to stay away from the side bet.

Manchester United have played very well of late. However, beating Liverpool on the road will be a tall order for the Red Devils. This clash could easily go three-way, so I’m taking a combo Both Teams to Score YES & Over 2.5 Goals at 1.90 on BetVictor Sportsbook. Liverpool have kept their net intact in four straight league contests, and that should change when they meet Manchester United.
