Betting Tip: Crewe v Chesterfield

Crewe had their great unbeaten start to the season snapped last weekend when they tasted defeat for the first time this season. Will they be able to bounce back to winning form? They get what appears to be an easy looking game as they play host to the struggling Chesterfield who have picked up just the four points so far this season. The Railwaymen may be looking forward to this one at the Alexandra Stadium and the home side are 21/20 to land those points, with the visitors at 2/1 over at Coral.

Crewe Form

Crewe posted a W2 D2 record to start the season with and showed plenty of strengths, particularly at the back. But that fell apart as they slipped to a 1-0 loss out at Grimsby last weekend, so they will have to dust themselves off from that. They will need to up their goal output a bit because they are the lowest scorers in the top nine at the moment with just the five netted. There’s definitely room for improvement.

Chesterfield Form

The Spireites have only posted a W1 D1 L3 record so far this season and out on the road, they have lost both of their games, going down at Notts County and Newport. Like Crewe, they have had problems scoring goals as well as they have managed just the four this term and that may inhibit them from getting anything out of this game.

Head to Head News

Chesterfield are unbeaten in their last three visits to the Alexandra Stadium and they took a 2-0 win there in their last visit there which was in the Football League Trophy last November. The last time they were together in the league was in the 2015/16 League One season with Chesterfield landing back to back wins. Chesterfield are on a four match winning streak and are unbeaten in five home and away against Crewe.

Top Betting Tips

The Spireites have the form in the head to head here, but Crewe are the more likely of the two to win this one. They have, by and large, been pretty solid this season and can push on and make amends for their slip last weekend against Grimsby. The home win is good value.
