Chelsea

Premier League champions Chelsea had a great start to their pre-season, beating local rivals Fulham 8-2 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their Cobham training ground. They then took on Arsenal in China and again ended with a convincing victory. Michy Batshuayi scored a brace, following Willian’s opener, as Chelsea won 3-0.

The International Champions Cup didn’t start as Antonio Conte would have hoped, although there were positives. Despite going 3-0 down inside twenty-seven minutes to Bayern Munich, the players showed strength of character to pull two goals back and only narrowly lose 3-2.

This match against Inter is their last before coming back to England. After this, they take on Arsenal in the Community Shield, before starting the defence of their title when the Premier League gets underway in a couple of weeks.

Inter Milan

Inter are still struggling to rediscover the type of form which saw them win five consecutive Serie A titles between 2005 and 2010. They have only managed to finish in the top four once in the past six seasons, ending the last campaign in seventh.

Pre-season started off okay, with a 2-1 win over WSG Wattens, before they lost 2-1 to Nurnberg and drew 1-1 with Schalke. However, they have looked in top form since arriving in Asia. Their opening ICC match was a 1-0 victory over Lyon in China, and then Eder scored twice to give them a 2-0 win over German champions Bayern Munich in Singapore. A draw against Chelsea would be enough to see them win the Singapore section, with only a defeat by two or more goals knocking them off the top.

Head to Head

The last time these sides met each other was in the last-16 of the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League. Inter won both legs, 2-1 at home and 1-0 away, to advance to the Quarter Finals. Chelsea last beat Inter, 2-0, in a friendly back in 2009.

Betting Odds and Predictions

Chelsea are the favourites here, although punters who like to back outsiders are being offered a fantastic price on Inter picking up the victory. Inter have the edge in the head to head statistics, have better recent form in the International Champions Cup, and beat a team who Chelsea had lost to two days earlier. Therefore, the 13/4 offered by Coral looks an extremely enticing price.

Coral Chelsea vs Inter Odds
The Coral Odds

Chelsea are 7/10, with them understandably the favourites but not a team who we have complete confidence in. The draw could prove to be good bet, at odds of 11/4. The Draw No Bet market may prove to be a punters best friend in this game. Chelsea are 4/11, whilst Inter are 2/1. If you back either team and the game ends level, you will have your stake returned.

The Italian side have shown great defensive work in the previous two matches, so it will be interesting to see how they cope against a team who have scored thirteen goals in three pre-season matches.

If you think the Inter defence will cope with Chelsea’s attack, it’s 11/2 for them to keep a clean sheet. It also affects the Both teams to Score market as well, with it priced at 4/7 for ‘YES’ and 11/8 for ‘NO’. Obviously, punters who believe Inter will keep a clean sheet will also think both teams will not score in this match.

We think that Chelsea will find a way to score, but that Inter will score as well. So, we are tipping Both Teams to Score at odds of 4/7. Seeing as we think there will be goals in this match, let’s look at who is most likely to score them.

Batshuayi has scored five goals in Chelsea’s three pre-season games so far, and is trying to prove his worth to Conte after a less than productive 2016/17 campaign. The Belgian is 7/5 to score anytime, and 4/1 to score first.

Willian is another solid option to score for Chelsea. He netted a hat-trick against Fulham and one against Arsenal, so 12/5 on him netting in the 90 minutes here looks a tempting price. He has scored first in the two matches in which he has found the net, and is 15/2 to score first again here.

For Inter, punters should look to Eder to find the net. He scored twice against Bayern, to make it three pre-season goals, and is 13/5 to score anytime.

Top Betting Tip

Due to the fact they have won the last two meetings, and beat Bayern Munich when Chelsea lost to them, our top betting tip for this match is Inter to win. Back this with Coral at extremely enticing odds of 13/4. If you want a little security on your bet, use the Draw No Bet market, where Inter are priced at 2/1.
