AYR RACECOURSE

Ayr Racecourse is one of Scotland’s premier racecourses. Both hunt and flat events are held over Ayr Racecourse’s 12-month race calendar, including the Scottish Grand National and the Ayr Gold Cup.

The Ayr Racecourse is a one-and-a-half mile, flat left-handed oval, which normally provides excellent racing conditions due to the moderate climate and sandy soil. The long run-in makes this a favourite with good sprinters.

In September Ayr Racecourse holds the Ayr Gold Cup, a six-furlong flat race renowned as one of the most competitive races in the flat racing calendar.

Ayr racecourse also holds the Scottish Grand National, the climax of the National Hunt calendar in Scotland, always attracting large crowds and the most famous trainers, horses and jockeys.

Located close to Ayr town centre, Ayr Racecourse is only five minutes from the A77 dual carriageway, 15 minutes from Prestwick Airport and 50 miles from Belfast and Larne Dock ferry routes.
