Betting Tip: Watford v Brighton

Brighton head to Watford looking for their first Premier League win of the campaign, although yet again it looks like they could be in for a tough day. Watford have surprised me a little so far, one area they have looked very good has been goal scoring, they have five goals from their opening two games.

I had both of these clubs down as potentially relegation candidates before the start of the season and after two games I am sure I am right about Brighton. They haven’t yet shown anything to show me they are capable of scoring enough goals to survive. Watford on the other hand have impressed and are doing better than expected so far, it may only be early but they are picking up some valuable points in the opening weeks.

Watford Form

Watford began their season with a thrilling 3-3 draw against Liverpool on the opening weekend. They weren’t the greatest defensively that day but they did show a very good attacking intent that helped them find the back of the net three times. More of that is needed but while ever they keep scoring goals they will continue to pick up points and win games.

Last weekend Watford probably pulled off the result of the weekend when they went to Bournemouth and won 2-0. While Bournemouth haven’t started too well, not many teams will go to Bournemouth and come away with three points so they did brilliantly.

Although they started the season as one of my relegation candidates, I like how Watford have started, especially with how they have scored goals. I will need to see more to be fully convinced but so far the signs are good for Watford fans.

Brighton Form

I thought Brighton would struggle in the opening weeks and so far that has been the case. They look a little short of Premier League quality so far, especially going forward and struggling to score goals is one way to get relegated in the Premier League. They opened their season with a tough game against Manchester City, a game they eventually lost 2-0. They stood firm against the City forward line but they conceded and went on to lose the game 2-0.

Their second game was another2-0 defeat, this time it was away against Leicester. Again, despite defending fairly well, they couldn’t hold their opponents out and Leicester ran out deserving winners of the game. A lack of chances has been the biggest problem for Brighton so far and something they must address sooner rather than later if they are to survive.

Team News

Goals have been easy to come by for Watford so far, something that is a big surprise to me. They have signed Andre Gray from Burnley and thrown him straight into the team. He may take a few weeks to get used to how Watford play but he is a good player who will take the chances he is given. Richarlison was fantastic last weekend for Watford and I expect to see him again, he is an exciting talent.

Brighton have to find a way to create chances in the Premier League, something they haven’t done so far. They have players who are new to the league, but ones who should be able to do something for their club. New signing Davy Propper has been brought in to be their creative force in midfield and he needs to show more if Brighton are to have any chance of surviving.

I don’t think there is too much between these two players, but the gap is widened by Watford playing well and being in form, and Brighton struggling. With Watford playing at home I think they have a great chance of picking up their second victory of the season and remaining unbeaten.

Watford are available to back at evens with Stan James, a great price I think and one I am happy to take. They have started the season very well and I am expecting them to come out firing again as they look to go three unbeaten.

Brighton have found life in the Premier League very tough so far and I think it is going to take them a few more weeks to adjust to life. They have to find a way to be more creative, something that may leave them open at the back but a risk that they have to take. Watford have started well enough for me this season and I am expecting them to beat Brighton.
