Betting Tip: Silkeborg vs. AGF

The new Danish Superliga is just a few weeks old but the table is already beginning to take shape and it does not make good reading for Silkeborg. They welcome AGF to JYSK Park on Monday looking to pick up their first win of the current campaign.  Coming into this match bottom of the league, there is potential for Silkeborg to be at least 3 points adrift at the bottom come the end of the third round of fixtures.

AGF come into this game in 8th place in the Superliga and know a win could propel them up the table and into the championship round places.

Silkeborg Form

Having finished last season in the relegation round positions, early form suggests Silkeborg could be in for another difficult season in the Danish Superliga.

They have started the current campaign with 2 defeats, the first of which was a 2-1 loss at Lyngby and the second was a 2-0 away reverse at the hands of Midtjylland.  Looking back to last season, Silkeborg have won only 3 of their last 12 Superliga games.

Home form is not very inspiring and Silkeborg have won 1 of their last 5 home Superliga games but will be hoping to start their season at home with a victory in this game.  Between the 17th September and 5th March last season, Silkeborg went on a 9-match unbeaten run, so it can be done.

AGF Form

AGF have started the season with a mixed bag of results, winning 1 and losing 1 game.  Both matches have been played at home, so this will be AGF’s first away game of the new season.

The opening day loss at home to Horsens was AGF’s first defeat in the Superliga in 5 games and they would have been disappointed to have started the campaign with a defeat at home.

Including fixtures from last season, AGF have lost just 1 of their previous 7 away matches and will be aiming to continue their good run of away form this season.  Their final away game last season was at Silkeborg and AGF won the match 2-0.

Team News

Silkeborg will be without their Brazilian striker Alex who has a cruciate knee ligament injury.  Otherwise, Peter Sorensen should have a fully fit squad at his disposal, with 18-year-old Jeppe Okkels expected to play in attack.

AGF also have little in the way of injury concerns and should start the match with a similar team to last week.  The experienced Morten Rasmussen is expected to lead the line.

Top Betting Tips

This has the makings of a close game, with neither team looking particularly impressive early in the season. Having yet to pick up a point, Silkeborg will be fully aware they need something from this match, even if it is just a point.  The draw is 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

There have been under 2.5 goals in 5 of AGF’s last 6 away Superliga matches. There have also been under 2.5 goals in 5 of Silkeborg’s last 8 home Superliga games.  You can get Evens at Ladbrokes for this match to finish with under 2.5 goals.

With that in mind and the potential for a close match in prospect the 1-1 draw at 6/1 with William Hill is tempting.
