Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks: Current situation
It’s funny how one poor shooting series can turn around the trajectory of a franchise. Going into this postseason the Celtics were expected to repeat as champions for the first time since the Warriors did it back in 2018 when they had Durant. Instead, they just lost their best player to an extended period of time and they are facing a 3-1 deficit going into Wednesday’s Game 5.
The Knicks are just one win away from reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since the turn of the century. It’s been a season to remember from New York, there is a chance they face the Indiana Pacers in the East Finals, the team that eliminated them in the postseason last year. There’s no room for relaxing though, the Knicks have to come into Game 5 with a sense of desperation if they want to eliminate the defending champions.

Tatum played arguably his best game in the postseason with 42 points before he suffered his leg injury. He connected on 7 threes, grabbed 8 rebounds and also had 4 steals and 2 blocks. Jalen Brunson had his signature postseason moment with 39 points and 12 assists, carrying the Knicks to one of their biggest wins in the last 25 years. Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns each contributed with 23 points, while OG Anunoby also chipped in 20.

Betting tip and prediction: Boston Celtics vs New York Knicks (14.05.2025.)
Game 4 could go down as one of the darkest days in recent Boston Celtics history. Not only did they lose the game and are now down 3-1 in the series, but they also lost their superstar player and cornerstone of their franchise Jayson Tatum. He went down in the final minutes of the game to an apparent leg injury, there are fears around the Celtics organization that it could be an Achilles injury which rules him out not only for this series but also for the majority of next season. That’s a big blow to the ambitions of the Celtics to turn things around in this series, only 13 teams in NBA history have come back from a 3-1 deficit in a best-of-seven series. Game 4 was by far the best performance of the Knicks who got 121 points on offense and prevented the Celtics from scoring by getting timely stops down the stretch. Jalen Brunson once again came up big with 39, but he also got a lot of help from his teammates with 3 of them scoring 20+ as well. Now it’s time to close this series on the road, something the Knicks have already done in Round 1 against the Pistons. They have more road wins than home wins this postseason run and with the Celtics being without Tatum we really like their chances of moving on here on Wednesday.
