Oklahoma City Thunder vs Denver Nuggets: Current situation
The Oklahoma City Thunder have not played basketball in over a week after their disposal of the Memphis Grizzlies in Round 1. They are still the odds on favorite to win the NBA championship, so far we haven’t seen anything that would indicate them not making it into the NBA Finals at least. After struggling a bit to open the series, their leader Shai Gilgeous-Alexander really picked it up in the two road games, carrying the team to a sweep.
Round 1 was a grueling 7 game series for the Nuggets as they successfully took care of business against the Clippers on Saturday to advance. But this team has way bigger goals in mind, after a disappointing exit in the West Semis last year vs Minnesota. If there’s one thing they can rely on this series it’s experience – they’ve already been to the mountain top, while the Thunder haven’t’ yet.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
A 38-point night by SGA with 4 other Thunder players scoring in double digits was enough as OKC became the first team to advance to the 2nd round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Defense played a vital role in the series against the Grizzlies – the Thunder have the best rating through the 1st Round of the postseason, allowing just 97.6 points per 100 possessions.
Denver Nuggets Stats & Form
It was a complete team effort on Saturday as the Nuggets won Game 7 vs the Clippers. Aaron Gordon led the scoring with 22 points, with all 5 starters scoring in double figures. Russell Westbrook also got his revenge on the Clippers with 16 points off the bench, the lead was up to 35 points at one point in the game and the win was never in doubt for the championship hungry Nuggets.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Denver Nuggets: Head-to-Head
Apart from Game 1, the regular season series between the Thunder and Nuggets was a high scoring affair. Each team won a pair of games, but interestingly enough nobody was able to connect back-to-back wins which sets up an intriguing series here.
Oklahoma City Thunder – Denver Nuggets Odds
Backing the Thunder will only get you odds of 2/9 if they win Game 1. Going with Nikola Jokic and co. to pull off the upset on the road gets you odds of 7/2.
The point total has been set at 223.5 points, with odds of 10/11 supporting either the over or the under.

Betting tip and prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Denver Nuggets (05.05.2025.)
It’s not often you get to see the Denver Nuggets and 3-time MVP Nikola Jokic be a double-digit underdog on the road, but that’s exactly the case for the series opener on Monday. Oklahoma City’s dominance has been hard to ignore this postseason, their two home games against Memphis saw them win by 51 and 19 points. Only 3 teams have a better efficiency rating on offense so far this postseason, the Thunder are averaging 117.4 points per 100 possessions while playing the highest pace of the Playoffs so far. That stat alone could be a problem for the Nuggets in Game 1 as they are coming off a 7 game series against the Clippers. Age is certainly not a friend of the Nuggets here, they are going up against a much younger team and endurance could be a factor if this series goes the distance. Another edge the Thunder have here is certainly their bench production. OKC is getting an average of 35 points per game from their bench players, while the Nuggets are at only 18.6 per game and realistically only Russell Westbrook has been consistent scoring wise off the pine for them. Monday’s series opener will be a fun one, but with the added fatigue we just don’t see how Denver handles the pace set by the Thunder here. We recommend backing the home team to cover the spread.
