Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves: Current situation
Winning the series opener is good news for the Thunder who are trying to make it to the NBA Finals for the first time since the Kevin Durant era back in 2012. Western Conference teams are 16-1 in Conference Finals when winning Game 1 at home, so the numbers are on their side. This is the 6th time the Thunder have started the postseason by winning 6 of their first 7 home games as well.
You could see a lot of frustrating faces on the Minnesota Timberwolves bench with the way Game 1 was officiated. The fouls drawn by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were questionable at times, the Timberwolves players felt the criteria in Game 1 wasn’t even close to what we have seen so far this postseason.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
Lu Dort was the only starter not to score in double figures in that Game 1 win on Tuesday, as SGA led the charge with 31 points and a team high +22 on the +/- side of things. Chet Holmgren also provided really solid help with 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting while Jalen Williams added 19 and 8 rebounds. The Thunder shot 50% from the field and 52% from three in the opener on Tuesday.
Minnesota Timberwolves Stats & Form
Julius Randle was the only Timberwolves player who showed up in that Game 1 loss as he had 28 and 8 rebounds. He also went an encouraging 5-for-6 from three, but that’s very little comfort for Minnesota as they scored just 88 points failing to get up more than 25 points in either of the four quarter. It’s back to the drawing board for head coach Chris Finch as we look ahead to Game 2 on Thursday.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves: Head-to-Head

Low scoring has been the most likely outcome in head-to-head meetings between these two teams, with that bet cashing 10 times over the past 15 games.

Betting tip and prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves (22.05.2025.)
Believe it or not the Minnesota Timberwolves actually did a decent job on SGA in that Game 1 loss, as he was forced to put up 27 shot attempts to get to his 31 points. That’s one area of the game the T’Wolves can actually be satisfied with. Minnesota hung around in the first half, but then over the final 24 minutes they got outscored 70-40. For Game 2 major adjustments will be needed, especially in the way Minnesota approaches the game from an offensive standpoint. Game 1 saw them shoot under 35% from the field while also attempting 51 threes on under 30% efficiency. The ball wasn’t moving either as they recoded just 18 assists compared to 27 by OKC. Anthony Edwards also had a sub-par game after he twisted his ankle in the game, that resulted in just 13 shot attempts from the T’Wolves best player. That’ll have to up in Game 2 if Minnesota wants to avoid going down 2-0 in this series. If you are the Thunder you don’t want to change anything in your approach, they are now a dominant 7-1 SU in 8 home games while also posting the best point differential in a 7-game span at home (+176) in NBA postseason history. The series opener was very discouraging for Minnesota, until they can sort some things out we recommend sticking with Oklahoma City in this series.
