Oklahoma City Thunder vs Indiana Pacers: Current situation
The Thunder have only themselves to blame for losing Thursday’s series opener. They’re now actually on a 5-game losing streak in NBA Finals games dating back to 2012, it was their 2nd Game 1 postseason loss this year. Allowing the Pacers to come back from 15 points down tied the largest 4th quarter comeback in 50 years in NBA Finals series.
The Pacers have truly mastered the art of coming back into games this postseason. Thursday’s win was the 5th time in these Playoffs where they managed to come back from a 15 point deficit, which is truly remarkable. Haliburton alone has made 4 game tying or go-ahead baskets in the final 5 seconds of 4th quarters or in OT this postseason.
Oklahoma City Thunder Stats & Form
The MVP came to play on Thursday as he finished the game with 38 points on just under 50% efficiency. Lu Dort is the only other Thunder player who deserves a pass for his performance in Game 1, once again Jalen Williams fell short when it mattered the most as he scored just 17 on 6-for-19 shooting. Chet Holmgren was also a non-factor with just 6 points and 6 rebounds.
Indiana Pacers Stats & Form
It was a balanced team effort by the Pacers in Game 1 as no player stood out with Pascal Siakam leading the way with 19 points. All five starters scored in double-figures, while Obi Toppin played well off the bench with 17 points, including 5 threes made. All eyes were on Haliburton in the clutch as he delivered 2 of his 14 points with under a second remaining to put Indy up for good.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Indiana Pacers: Head-to-Head
Winning Game 1 on the road will be a major morale boost for Indiana as they became only the 6th team in NBA postseason history with three Game 1 road wins in a single postseason. After Thursday’s win the Pacers are now a dominant 9-4 SU in the last 13 meetings, plus they’ve won in 5 of their last 7 visits to Oklahoma City.

Betting tip and prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Indiana Pacers (08.06.2025.)
Everything was going according to plan for the OKC Thunder as they led for 47 minutes and 58 seconds in Game 1, but then Tyrese Haliburton happened. The Pacers mounted one of the more improbable comebacks we’ve seen in recent memory as they completely turned the game around in the final 12 minutes, Haliburton drained a mid-range shot with 0.3 seconds remaining and now they find themselves up 1-0 in the series. Adjustments will have to be made from the Thunder point of view, especially on offense where they collected just 13 assists total as a team, far too low for a game of this magnitude. Meanwhile, the Pacers controlled the glass and had 24 assists, overcoming a slow start and a total of 24 turnovers committed in Thursday’s win. For the series itself Indiana winning the opener is great, as now all the pressure switches to Oklahoma City as they cannot afford to go down 2-0 before the series moves to Indiana for the next two games. If there’s something we’ve learned about this Thunder team in the postseason, it’s that they respond well after losses. They’ve lost 3 times total in the Playoffs this year and each time they responded with wins. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in particular dominated those games – he had 25, 35 and 40 points, expect another big time game from him after he opened the series with 38 in Game 1. Look for OKC to assert themselves early here as they tie things up at 1-1 on Sunday.
