Denver Nuggets vs Oklahoma City Thunder: Current situation
Nikola Jokic finally played a great game for the Nuggets after struggling the past couple of outings. However, with just one other teammate stepping up it’s hard to expect a win on the road against the best home team in the league. Denver now returns home in hopes of pushing this series to a deciding Game 7.
Oklahoma City is on the brink of advancing to the Western Conference Finals, something they failed to do last season when they were in this position. A massive 4th quarter rally allowed them to come back from as many as 12 points in Tuesday’s game and now they have a chance to make history and move on to the Conference Finals for the first time in 9 years.

44 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists on 17-for-25 shooting from the field, including 5-for-7 from three was truly remarkable. But, in order to beat the Thunder the rest of this Nuggets team will have to elevate their level of play. Aside from Murray who had 28 and Gordon who chipped in with 13, no other Nuggets player scored in double-figures on Tuesday.

SGA once again led a balanced attack with 31 points, including some clutch baskets down the stretch. As a team the Thunder shot 50% from the field and went 12-for-29 from three which is good enough for 41% efficiency. Alex Caruso was once again solid off the bench with 13 points, you just have a feeling OKC is the deeper team here and as the series has progressed we are seeing that be the case more and more.

Pressure is on the 3-time MVP Nikola Jokic and his team to respond following another disappointing performance in Game 5. Denver actually looked good in that game for stretches, however a scoring drought in the 2nd half saw them lose a 12-point lead. The approach in Game 6 will have to change, this team is desperate for a boost of sorts, some of their players have looked fatigued in this series and there are question marks whether or not they can sustain this level of play. Head coach Adelman will have to make adjustments, players like Deandre Jordan and even Dario Saric could make an appearance here. Meanwhile, for the Thunder this game is an opportunity to exercise some demons of the past. Last year they got eliminated by Dallas at this stage, we’ve seen growth and maturity following that negative experience. Closing out a team is the hardest thing to do in basketball, especially on the road. The last time these two played at Ball Arena we saw the lowest scoring game in 9 meetings this year, so don’t expect a lot of points to be scored here. Nikola Jokic is averaging 26 points, 12.6 rebounds and 6.6 assists in elimination games, something tells us he won’t go away without a fight here.
