The Grand National Outright Winner Odds

The Grand National Outright Winner Odds

The biggest event in the British racing calendar takes place on Saturday 6th April at Aintree. With defending champion Tiger Roll leading the list of runners and riders, it promises to be a fascinating run around the 4 and a half mile course:

Here are the key runners and riders for the Grand National:

Tiger Roll – 7/2 (William Hill) – The 2018 Grand National winner has continued to go from strength to strength under the stewardship of Gordon Elliott. This year’s Grand National field does look to have more likely candidates than last year and seldom does the favourite win – especially a defending champion but Tiger Roll’s pedigree makes him the rightful favourite here.

Anibale Fly – 10/1 (888 Sport) – Proven performer at this level having finished 4th in last year’s Grand National under a big weight. No question marks in terms of the trip and the incredibly strong finish at the Gold Cup in similar conditions will fill the connections with confidence here.

Rathvinden – 11/1 (Bet 365) – Willie Mullins’ biggest hope for the race Rathvinden is another with serious claims – particularly over the extended trip. Whilst he isn’t a horse known for his prowess over the jumps, his incredible stamina propelled him to victory in the 4-miler at Cheltenham last year and he is arguably overpriced.

Vintage Clouds – 12/1 (Bet Bright) – One of Trevor Hemmings’ increasingly impressive stable and despite indifferent early showings in 2017, looks to be a horse going places. Has overcome wind surgery in recent months but looked in fine form when going close at Cheltenham and with no real concerns with stamina – could be one to watch here.

Lake View Lad – 14/1 (Betsson) – Another contender for Hemmings who is synonymous with this race and Lake View Lad’s relative inexperience at this level could be of benefit as he has no past negatives to draw upon. An improving horse that impressed at Cheltenham last month and whilst not the most obvious pick, certainly has claims here.

Mall Dini – 20/1 (Coral) – Irish hopeful Mall Dini has the 2016 Pertemps Final Victory in the cabinet but hasn’t kicked on since.  The 7 year old is one of Pat Kelly’s most consistent performers however and is sure to enjoy the going at Aintree as well as the sense of the occasion the National brings. A genuine outsider.

Rock The Kasbah – 25/1 (Bet at Home) – One of the most consistent performers on the circuit at this distance and will relish the relatively good ground at Aintree. Whilst he is unproven at this, the elite level but capable of springing a surprise or two on his day and he may benefit from having not raced competitively since December.

Our Grand National Top Pick

  • Top Pick – Tiger Roll – 7/2 (William Hill)
  • Each Way Pick – Rock The Kasbah – 25/1 (Bet at Home)
