Italy U21 vs. Poland U21 Game Preview

Italy played very well in the opening game of Group A as they beat Spain and now are in a commanding position to end the group stage at the top and secure their place in the semis. On the other hand, Poland surprised Belgium and now they got an unexpected opportunity to fight for the first place but have tough two challenges ahead against Italy and Spain.

Italy U21 Team News and Latest Form

Italy were slight underdogs in the previous clash with Spain and they trailed 1-0 since the 9th minute after Dani Ceballos’ wonder goal. Still, Federico Chiesa tied the score before halftime and added one more in the 64th minute while he let Lorenzo Pellegrini take the penalty kick in the 82nd and Roma midfielder set the final score, 3-1.

It was just Italy’s third win in 11 matches and they finally recorded a victory following four matches without getting one. They returned the favour to Spain who beat them two years ago with the same 3-1 result in the semi-finals and this win will lift the players mentally, so they shouldn’t miss the chance to get another three points here.

The defence is a bit problematic for Luigi Di Biagio as the Italians failed to keep their net intact in nine of the previous 11 games and they allowed three goals in the last two matches. Still, their offence scored five goals in the last two fixtures.

Poland U21 Team News and Latest Form

Poland already made a surprise by qualifying for the final tournament after defeating Portugal in two playoff games, 3-2 on aggregate. They were considered slight underdogs in the opening tilt of this championship against Belgium and the things didn’t start well for the White Eagles as the Belgians got to an early 1-0 lead. However, the Poles responded in a magnificent way and scored the next three goals through SzymonZurkowski, Krystian Bielik, and Sebastian Szymanski and although Belgium managed to cut the deficit to one, it was too late for a comeback.

Poland are in a slightly better form than the Italians as they lost only two of the last 15 matches and it seems that a 2-0 loss to Serbia in a final test prior to this tournament didn’t mean anything. Their defence is also rather leaky as they allowed at least a goal in ten of the previous 12 games but they managed to score in 13 of the last 15, which is a good sign for CzesławMichniewicz’s forwards.

Italy U21 vs. Poland U21 Head to Head

The rivals have met just once before and it was in a friendly clash in March 2017 when Italy recorded a narrow, 2-1 victory. Lorenzo Pellegrini for Italy and Dawid Kownacki for Poland scored goals in that match and they will likely start for their respective teams in this one.

Italy U21 vs. Poland U21 Betting Tip

The odds on Italy to win are very small and betting on Asian Handicap could be tricky as both teams are fighting for the first place in the group and will be highly motivated. Therefore, we don’t advise you to bet on full-time or on AH and instead, you can go with Italy to win and both teams to score at excellent 12/5 odds with 888Sport.

Reason for this bet is that both Italy and Poland are struggling to keep their net intact and it’s obvious that the attack is a better part of each team while Italy should get three points here. That’s why it is a better value than to back the Italians at miserable 4/11 odds.
