Substitution Haaland

Guardiola left his top scorer Erling Haaland in the dressing room at half-time of the Dortmund game. “He was suffering a bit from colds, and pain in his foot was added in the first half,” the Spanish coach explained. In addition, the Norwegian, who has been scoring like crazy this season, did not appear fit. “I thought he looked tired,” his coach said.

Whether Haaland will be fit again for next Saturday’s game, when City face visiting Leicester City, remains to be seen. “I did see him walking normally after the game,” Guardiola is hopeful. “We have to see his situation first.” Haaland, if he plays along, could well be on hand to try from 11 yards. He is the only player yet to fail from the spot this season. Against Brighton last weekend, he utilised a penalty, as he did earlier that season at West Ham United.
