England vs Australia ICC Cricket World Cup Preview & Betting Tip

The 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup has gone as expected in the most part but things have taken a dramatic turn in recent days.  On Tuesday 25th June we have a fantastic match to look forward to as England play Australia at Lords Cricket Ground, London.

The minimum both teams would have been expecting from this tournament is to reach the semi-final.  As things stand ahead of this fixture, they are both in the top four but a defeat could prove costly, especially for the hosts.

England

England started the 2019 Cricket World Cup as the favourites to win the competition. However, as things stand, their place in the semi-final is at risk following a shock defeat to Sri Lanka in their previous game.

It was their second loss in six games following the defeat to Pakistan and this will be the first time England have faced a team currently in the top four. Having enjoyed three straight wins following the loss to Pakistan, England were heavy favourites to beat Sri Lanka but they scored just 212 runs from 47 overs.

The good news for England is they have won nine of their last ten One Day International matches against Australia. That includes a 5-0 drubbing in a series at home last year. England are the favourites at 3/4 with 22Bet to win the game.

Australia

Australia find themselves second in the table with 10 points to their name from six games.  They have won five of those matches and the only defeat to date came in their toughest match of the competition so far, against India.

Following the loss to India, Australia have gone on a run of three straight victories.  They have defeated Pakistan by 41 runs, Sri Lanka by 87 runs and Bangladesh by 48 runs. Interestingly, England have already lost to two of those three teams and Australia will know the pressure is on the hosts to win.

Payout Ratio

Nonetheless, Australia are the slight outsiders for this match, priced at 11/10 with Ladbrokes to win the game.

Key Players

Joe Root remains the most consistent man with the bat for England in the 2019 World Cup. He scored a fifty in the defeat to Sri Lanka, which was his third of the tournament and also has two centuries to his name taking him to 424 runs in total.

Root will need to stay at the crease and will hope for better support from his teammates if England are to post a big total.  Root is available at 5/1 with Betfair to be the top run scorer in this match.

Australia have a key batsman of their own and David Warner has been in superb form.  He not only has the most runs in the competition he has also made the highest score and sits fifth in the batting averages.

You can back Warner to be he top run scorer in the game at 11/2 with 22Bet.
