England Aim to Seal 4-0 Victory

England Aim to Seal 4-0 Victory

The 5th and final One Day International between England and Pakistan will take place on Sunday 19th May.  The game will be played at Hedingley Stadium in Leeds and both teams will be keen to end the series on a high.

With the Cricket World Cup just around the corner, there is no time for slip-ups and despite having the series wrapped up, England will want to continue their positive momentum ahead of the showpiece occasion on home soil.

The Favourites

The first game between the teams was abandoned due to poor weather but the England have taken control of the series by winning the next three matches.  Not only do England have the series in the bag, they have a good record over Pakistan at this venue, having defeated them the last two times they have met.

In addition, England have won each of their last five ODI’s at Headingley Stadium and will be feeling confident they can make it six.

The hosts are the favourites to win this match and the bookies have them at 4/11 with William Hill to come out on top.

Pakistan

Pakistan have found life tough in this series and although they have batted well at times, they have had no answer when England have been at the crease.

Their recent ODI record is poor and they have lost two and drawn one of their previous three competitions.  The defeats have come in the United Arab Emirates against Australia and the Asia Cup where they failed to reach the final.  The draw was against New Zealand.

Despite being 3-0 down in the series and unable to win it, Pakistan know how important this game is in terms of their World Cup preparation and a win would be huge.  However, they are the outsiders with the bookmaker, priced at 21/10 with Ladbrokes.

Top Batsman

The England team is blessed with a fantastic group of batting talent.  Every player in their batting order is capable of scoring big but one man will be looking to get back in the runs having missed the previous game and his name is Eoin Morgan.

The captain was suspended for the previous match and will be keen to get back in the runs ahead of the World Cup.  You can back Morgan at 5/1 with William Hill to be the top run scorer for England.

Pakistan will be hoping Imam-ul-Haq is fit to take part in this match.  The opening batsman has been excellent in this series but suffered a blow to the elbow in the 4th ODI.  Imam will want to take part if fit and he is on offer at 3/1 with Ladbrokes to be the top run scorer for his team.
