Betting Tip: Atalanta v Everton

by Chris Russell

This is a game which should prove to be pretty interesting because neither club has had a great start to their respective domestic seasons. They now come together in the first action of the Europa League this season and it should prove to be a tight tussle. Atalanta proved to be a very tough home side last term, so will that stand up as they face an Everton side who have lost all three of their previous trips to Italy? Atalanta are 11/8 to take the home win, leaving Everton at around 23/10.

Atalanta Form

The Italians haven’t gotten off to a great start this season with a W1 L2 record in Serie A. So they haven’t gotten themselves up and running yet, but they have faced Lazio and Roma already in those three league games, two sides who finished in the top four last season. So not the easiest of fixtures for them to start the season with. They are back in European action for the first time in 26 years. Last season they only lost three home games and are unbeaten in five on home soil in Europe. This will be their first ever game against a side from England.

Everton Form

The Toffees have failed to win any of their last four games in all competitions now and things just aren’t clicking for them. They are lacking a cutting edge going forward and that could be their downfall in Italy. They have been to Italy three times before and have lost each of those trips there. Everton have scored in just one of their six previous games against Italian sides and from those half dozen games, Everton holds a W1 D2 L3 record. The Toffees though have lost only one of their last seven out on the road in Europe.

Top Betting Tips

This will likely be a tight game as Everton are just lacking a clinical edge and Atalanta may not be a pushover on home soil if their form from last season is anything to go by. So it’s worth looking at under 2.5 goals but there is value on the home side to collect maximum points. They can’t be underestimated in his one.
