Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Garbine Muguruza 2019 Wimbledon Betting Tip

The 2019 Wimbledon Championships Ladies’ Singles first-round matches continue on Tuesday and one of the headliners will see Beatriz Haddad Maia facing off the 26th-seed and former Wimbledon champion Garbine Muguruza.

Beatriz Haddad Maia News & Form

The 23-year old Brazilian won three matches in the qualifiers to reach the main draw at Wimbledon this season. Beatriz Haddad Maia is having a nice season, winning 25 of her 39 matches excluding the qualifiers, but she’s still searching for the first WTA title.

Haddad Maia came to London as the World No. 121, and this will be her second appearance at Wimbledon. Back in 2017 when Muguruza won the title here, Beatriz exited in the second round. Haddad Maia made it to the quarterfinal in Ilkley two weeks ago, losing to Timea Babos in three sets, while Beatriz won six of her previous ten matches on the grass court.

Garbine Muguruza News & Form

In 2015, Garbine Muguruza made it to the championship match at Wimbledon where she lost to Serena Williams. A year later, Garbine was eliminated in the second round, while she won the title in 2017, beating Venus Williams in the final. Last year, Muguruza exited in the second round once again, so she hopes for another final this time.

Garbine came to London as the World No. 27 and with a 21-10 record in 2019. The former World No. 1 won one title this season, defeating Victoria Azarenka in the championship match in Monterrey on a hard court. Muguruza didn’t play on grass prior to Wimbledon, while she won eight of her previous ten matches on the fastest surface.

Haddad Maia vs Muguruza Head to Head

These two ladies met each other only once, and Garbine Muguruza routed Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-2 6-0 in Cincinnati on a hard court.

Haddad Maia vs Muguruza Betting Odds and Predictions

Garbine Muguruza is far away from her best form, but she’s still considered as a firm favourite to eliminate Beatriz Haddad Maia. You can bet on Muguruza at 2/5 odds with Bet365 or Betfair, while Haddad Maia is listed as a 2/1 underdog on the same platforms.

The line on the total games has been set at 20.5 with BetVictor with the over at 17/20 and the under at 20/21. Betway offers a 19.5-game line which sounds more interesting, and the over is 4/6, while the under is 11/10. The odds on exactly two sets are 1/2 with William Hill, so the bookies expect Muguruza to finish the job in straight sets.

Haddad Maia vs Muguruza Betting Tip

Although Garbine Muguruza didn’t play on grass since last year, I expect her to dominate Beatriz Haddad Maia. The Brazilian lefty could cause some problems if she serves at the highest level, but I don’t think she can be consistent enough to beat Muguruza who won eight of her last 11 meetings with the left-handers. If the odds on Garbine to win straight up ate not attractive enough, take Muguruza to win in straight sets at 19/20 with 888Sport.
