Denmark vs Finland: Team Form

Denmark qualified for Euro 2020 after finishing second in Group D. With four wins and four draws from their 8 matches, it was just a single point that saw Switzerland top the standings. Kasper Hjulmand’s side have been in good form since then too. Denmark beat Moldova and Austria with ease, kicking off their 2022 World Cup campaign off in style.

Finland qualified for the European Championships for the first time after finishing as Group J runners up. This came despite suffering four defeats and only scoring 16 goals in 10 games. Head Coach Markku Kanerva will be hoping that his team can return to top form by the time Euro 2020 rolls around. Finland have won just one of their last five matches, coming away in Bulgaria. They most recently lost to Switzerland in a friendly.

Denmark vs Finland: Team News

The Denmark squad is packed full of talent from Europe’s top leagues. English football fans will know all about Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, Jannik Vestergaard and Joachim Andersen. Meanwhile, Barcelona stirker Martin Braithwaite and RB Leipzig’s Yussuf Poulsen will be a handful in attack. Denmark will be looking to Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen for creativity.

The pressure will be on striker Teemu Pukki to deliver, with the Norwich City man having to be on top of his game if Finland are to have any hope in Group B. Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara and veteran captain Tim Sparv are among the other standout players for the tournament debutants.

Head to Head: Denmark vs Finland

Since 2000, Denmark and Finland have only met on four occasions. That year, Finland defeated Denmark 2-1 in the Nordic Championships. However, it was Denmark who came out on top during international friendlies in both 2005 and 2011. Despite this, because the two countries have not faced off against each other for almost a decade, little should be concluded from past results.

Denmark vs Finland Betting Odds

Given their recent form and the fact that they will play on home soil, it comes as no surprise that it is Denmark who are the bookies’ favourites to claim all three points against Finland. The Danes are available at best odds of 40/85 with both 888Sport and Betfair. Those looking to back Finland for a shock win can find odds of 6/1 at a number of leading sportsbooks.

With many opening group stage matches ending in stalemates, betting on a draw at 3/1 could also be worth considering. Elsewhere, with Denmark having scored 18 goals in their last five matches, another appealing market is betting on Kasper Hjulmand’s side scoring over 2.5 goals. This market is available at odds of 2/1 with Betway.

Our Denmark vs Finland Betting Tip

Having looked at all available markets and the pre-match stats, our top betting tip for the match involving Denmark and Finland is to bet on Denmark keeping a clean sheet. This market is available at best odds of 4/5 with Bet365. The Danes have the likes of Andreas Christensen Simon Kjaer to call upon in defence, who will make things extremely difficult for the Finland attackers. Meanwhile, with Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel inbetween the sticks, it could well take something special for Finland to find the back of the net.
