Betting Tip: Cambridge v Coventry

After their disappointment of a loss last weekend, Cambridge bounced back immediately to winning ways in midweek as they took a win at Crewe. They still remain a low scoring side though, but are proving to have a bit of moxie about them. Coventry appears to be back on song as well though with back to back victories in the league now but they will have to prove themselves out on the road where they are winless in their last two. Cambridge are 13/8 to win this with Coventry at 8/5 so the bookies are expecting a tight battle.

Cambridge Form

Cambridge have gone W3 D1 L1 in their last five league games so they are looking solid. They lost at Barnet last weekend but snapped back with a midweek win at Crewe. All three of Cambridge’s league wins this season have been by a 1-0 scoreline so there’s a trend. Fortunately for them, they have a solid defence which has taken four clean sheets in their last five games. That’s important because they have only scored five league goals themselves this term.

Coventry Form

After a three match winless streak where just one point was gained, Coventry appears to have found their feet again. They took back to back home wins over Port Vale and Carlisle over the last week, granted not the stiffest of opponents, but the Sky Blues still got the job done. They have taken five clean sheets in seven games this season so combine that with Cambridge’s defence and you probably have a low scoring game on the cards here.

Head to Head News

History will be created in this game because this is the first ever league game between the two sides. The seven previous encounters have all been in cups, and they have met once since 1993 and that was in an FA Cup tie last year which Cambridge won 4-0 on home soil. With such a gap in matches between these two, it’s hard to take much from the head to head. Coventry to lead the overall head to head though 3-2, with two draws.

Top Betting Tips

Coventry have struggled a little on the road and Cambridge may just have enough in them to stick a home win on the board. Under 2.5 goals looks a banker at 4/6 with bet365 because both boast very strong defences. The U’s just shade the current form so back them to land a home win.
