Betting Tip: Brighton v Newcastle

Last season in the Championship, the battle for the title was a pretty epic between Brighton and Newcastle. It all came down to the wire and Brighton blew it on the final day of the season to allow the Magpies to grab the top spot. So now after that, the two clubs meet up again for the first time in the Premier League this season. Both will have looked at their respective fixture lists and will have eyed this up as a winnable match. Newcastle had the better of things in the head to head last season, but Brighton are 9/5 on home soil to win this Sunday fixture. Newcastle are 19/10 at bet365 for the away win.

Brighton Form

The Seagulls have had a pretty slow start to the Premier League. They lost their opening two matches and have collected four in their following three. They have only scored in two of their five league matches this season, but the positive from that is, it has happened in their last two matches, so maybe they are finding their feet. Their lone success this season did happen at home as well when they beat West Brom 3-1 in an excellent performance. They do look lightweight up front and have just the four goals to their name so far. Their other home game ended in a loss against Man City, which is pretty par for the course.

Newcastle Form

The Magpies had a slow start as well losing their two openers, but have caught fire since then. Rafa Benitez has guided his troops to three straight wins over West Ham, Swansea and Stoke. Granted, not the toughest of opposition but you can lump Brighton into that category as well, so this a great chance for them to keep some momentum going. Away from home, they are W1 L1, losing at Huddersfield and beating Swansea. Both games saw just the one goal in the match, which suggests that this is going to be a low-scoring affair.

Head to Head News

The Magpies won both league meetings with Brighton last season and that was the first league meetings between them since back in 1992. So that is pretty much all there is to look at. The Magpies scored two goals in both meetings last season.

Top Betting Tips

Newcastle’s recent wins in the top flight have come against pretty average sides and that should put them in with a chance in this one. They have played some pretty positive stuff and can take the game to the hosts. Brighton got that win over West Brom to relieve some pressure, but then they crashed immediately after against Bournemouth. Newcastle to win.
